It is shocking to see how many good ideas are being recycled these days. It’s not that we don’t know what to do, and have known for a painfully long time. It’s that we have failed to implement them. It is a cause of sadness, as you say. It is also a cause of anger. We don’t need more studies. We need action. It’s high time we figured out how to exploit all channels of influence better to make things happen. Collaboratively. Fast. Bob I agree, Jocelyn. It looks like we agree that Robin Hood and carbon taxes would benefit society, especially if they are implemented in a smart way. <a href="http://www.option13.org/Option13.pdf" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">The Option: 13 proposal</a> would be another thoughtful way to approach the carbon pricing issue. When we find proposals that make so much sense, we have to wonder why they are not implemented. Bob Jocelyn, thanks for your comments. In the same way that a "Robin Hood" tax would "downsize the global financial bubble, curb high-frequency trading without hurting real investors and raise billions", a carbon tax would reduce carbon emissions and encourage the development of alternatives. A big difference would be the fact that a carbon tax would be paid for by everyone, meaning that it would require a way to help low-income individuals and families. I wouldn't want to see the poor among us be unable to pay for heating or transportation.
